The Alila Diwa Goa Hotel Review

A Relaxed Luxury Stay in South Goa

This review is independent and not sponsored

I personally visited this hotel and share my experience with complete honesty

GOWITHROMEO RATING: 8.75/10
AVG. NIGHTLY RATE: $220

Alila Diwa Goa is a luxury resort in South Goa designed for travelers who want space, quiet, and thoughtful service rather than a high-energy beach scene. Surrounded by rice paddies in Majorda, the property feels removed from the usual Goa crowds while still offering easy access to the beach and local attractions.

One of the most distinctive features of Alila Diwa Goa is its dual-hotel concept. The resort is divided into the main hotel and the Diwa Club, each offering a slightly different experience. This layout keeps the property from feeling crowded, even at higher occupancy.

LOCATION

8.5/10

Alila Diwa Goa is located in Majorda, South Goa, about 20–25 minutes from Dabolim Airport. The resort is not beachfront. Majorda Beach is approximately a 10-minute walk or a short shuttle ride away.

The surrounding area is quiet and rural, with rice fields, small local shops, and a few well-known restaurants nearby. Martin’s Corner, one of South Goa’s most popular local restaurants, is within walking distance and worth a visit.

If you’re looking for nightlife or shopping outside the resort, you’ll need transportation. If your goal is relaxation, the location works very well.

AMENITIES

9/10

GYM 9/10 The gym at Alila Diwa Goa is fully equipped and worked well for my daily workouts. I used it every day and had no issues completing a full session. The space includes treadmills, bikes, stair climbers, free weights, and a range of strength machines. The gym is clean, well maintained, and air-conditioned, with towels and water readily available. Large windows bring in natural light and offer a pleasant view of the garden, which made the space feel open and comfortable rather than enclosed. Its location next to the spa also adds to the overall experience. For a resort gym, it meets expectations and supports a complete workout without compromise.

SPA 9/10 The spa at Alila Diwa Goa is beautifully designed and very well kept. While I didn’t book a treatment during my stay, I spent time visiting the space and was impressed by how clean, quiet and thoughtfully laid out it is. The spa offers a full menu of treatments, including Ayurvedic therapies, Balinese and Swedish massages, body scrubs, wraps and facials, all designed around relaxation and wellness. Treatment rooms feel private and serene, and the overall atmosphere reflects the quality you expect from a luxury resort spa.

POOL 9/10 The main infinity pool at Alila Diwa Goa is one of the highlights of the resort. Overlooking lush rice fields and surrounded by palm trees, the setting feels open and expansive, with uninterrupted green views that immediately put you at ease. The pool itself is large enough for both relaxed swimming and lounging, with plenty of space around it, so it never felt crowded or hectic during my stay.

OTHER Alila Diwa Goa offers a strong range of amenities that make staying on property easy and comfortable. The hotel has multiple restaurants, a bar, and a concierge team that assists with tours and transportation. Guests staying in the Diwa Club benefit from a more private experience, including a separate check-in area, exclusive dining options, and additional lounge access. While the hotel does not have a dedicated beach club, a complimentary shuttle runs regularly to Majorda Beach, where guests can use sun loungers and umbrellas at the partner beach bar at no extra charge.

ROOM

8.5 /10

I stayed in a Diwa Club Suite, and the extra space made a noticeable difference. The suite felt comfortable and well laid out, with a separate living area, plenty of storage, and room to fully settle in rather than just pass through. Large windows and the balcony brought in natural light and looked out toward greenery, which kept the space feeling open and quiet. The bathroom was spacious and well designed, with a soaking tub, separate shower, and a separate toilet area. Everything was practical, easy to use, and designed for longer stays. While some finishes showed light signs of age, the suite was clean, well maintained, and very comfortable overall.

BREAKFAST

9/10

Breakfast is served in the resort’s main restaurant, Vivo, where an elaborate buffet offers a wide selection of both Western and Indian dishes, including fresh fruit, eggs, pastries, breads, hot local options and healthy choices to suit different tastes. The service was attentive and the food felt well prepared with good variety each morning. Vivo overlooks the pool and surrounding greenery, which made starting the day relaxed and pleasant.

RESTAURANTS NEARBY

Spice Studio (On-site) -  Spice Studio was my favorite restaurant at the hotel and one I personally tried more than once. The focus is on traditional Goan cuisine, and the thalis are the standout. The flavors felt authentic, comforting, and thoughtfully prepared. It’s easily one of the strongest introductions to Goan food in South Goa.

Majorda Beach Shacks (10 minutes) - The beach shacks at Majorda Beach offer a relaxed, casual dining experience with fresh seafood, Goan curries, grilled fish, and cold drinks by the water. It’s a simple and enjoyable option, especially for lunch or sunset, and a nice change from resort dining.

Cozinha da Ramola (Across the street) - I personally ate at Cozinha da Ramola and loved it. This small, local restaurant serves classic Goan and Indian dishes like fish curry, prawn balchão, xacuti, and recheado. The food is simple, authentic, and satisfying. It’s also at least four times cheaper than eating at the hotel, while offering very similar local flavors. An easy walk from Alila Diwa and absolutely worth visiting.

THINGS TO DO

Majorda Beach (10 minutes) - Wide, calm, and less crowded than North Goa beaches. Great for walks and sunset.

Explore South Goa Villages - Quiet roads, churches, and everyday local life make this area rewarding to explore.

Stay on Property - This is a resort where spending the day by the pool, at the spa, or dining on-site feels like time well spent.

VERDICT

My stay at Alila Diwa Goa was very pleasant and genuinely relaxing. After spending time in India’s major cities, this felt like the right place to slow down, spend time by the pool, visit the beach, and enjoy the surrounding greenery. The pace of the resort made it easy to unwind, whether that meant relaxing in the sun, walking through the grounds, or simply taking a break from a busy travel schedule.

I would stay here again without hesitation. If you’re looking for a luxury resort in South Goa that offers comfort, space, and a calm environment to rest and recharge, Alila Diwa Goa is a strong choice.
