I Gave It All Up to Travel And Here’s What Happened
Discover how I turned my love for travel into a full-time lifestyle

Two laptops. Two suitcases. One dream.
That’s how it started. We made a choice to leave our nine-to-five lives behind and trade routine for boarding passes and the unknown.
Just a few years ago, I was working in luxury fashion retail, styling high-end clients, surrounded by designer shoes, and pulling long hours. Elliot, my partner, had already started leaning into a nomadic lifestyle. He’d given up his apartment in Los Angeles and was working remotely while traveling and figuring out what came next. Before that shift, he held a high-pressure role as Vice President and Assistant General Counsel at a well-known subscription box company.
Together, we had what most people would call successful lives. But deep down, something wasn’t clicking. We weren’t chasing promotions, we were craving freedom. Something different. Something ours.
The Call
We didn’t hate our jobs. In fact, we were really good at them. But the thought of staying in one place, locked into routines and PTO calendars, started to feel suffocating.
We dreamed of more. More adventure. More spontaneity. A life where one week we’d wake up in Tokyo and the next in Cape Town.
We didn’t want another vacation. We wanted a lifestyle built around exploration.
In 2021, as the world stood still and everything felt uncertain, we asked ourselves one question. What if this was our chance to rewrite everything?
Planning Our Escape
Walking away from the corporate world wasn’t an overnight decision. We saved. We mapped it out. We sold or donated almost everything we owned and downsized our lives into carry-on suitcases.
But most importantly, we got clear about what we really wanted. Not just beautiful photos or brag-worthy experiences, but a travel lifestyle that was sustainable, intentional, and deeply personal.
For me, that meant launching GoWithRomeo, a travel planning agency that makes every trip feel curated and effortless. For Elliot, it meant launching his own law firm, Lawerlly, where he could take on flexible legal work while continuing to travel by my side.
Over 60 Countries and Counting
Since then, we’ve explored more than 60 countries across six continents.
We’ve gone on safari in Kenya, danced through Carnaval in Rio, and dined at unforgettable restaurants in Buenos Aires. We’ve stayed in beautiful properties in Qatar, relaxed on breathtaking beaches in Indonesia, devoured street food in Bangkok, and partied until sunrise in Berlin.
But for us, this isn’t about checking off a list. It’s about being present. About slowing down. It’s about connecting with people, learning through culture, and constantly discovering new parts of ourselves.
Yes, we’ve figured out how to live out of a suitcase, manage jet lag, and work from random cafés with barely functioning Wi-Fi. But more importantly, we’ve learned that life is too short to only live for weekends and vacation days.
The Truth About Nomad Life
Let’s keep it real. It’s not always glamorous. We’ve had days that tested our limits. We’ve dealt with travel mishaps, exhaustion, and uncertainty. But those are the moments that have taught us the most. How to be resilient, how to laugh in chaos, and how to build a life where we feel fully alive.
The hardest part was never leaving our jobs. It was letting go of the belief that success has to look a certain way.
Once we released that idea, the rest came naturally.
You Can Do It Too
This story isn’t just about us. It’s about what’s possible when you decide to stop waiting and start living.
You don’t have to become a full-time traveler to change your life. Maybe it’s a remote year. A sabbatical. That one trip you’ve been dreaming about for years.
Whatever it is, listen to that voice inside that keeps whispering. There’s more out there. Because there is.
And if you ever want help planning your next escape, you know where to find us.
